XP Home: Taskbar freezes after starting VPN-connection through WLAN

Hi

my system: dell inspiron 6400(E1505) wit Win XP Home, using a Cisco VPN Client 4.8...

When I start the Cisco VPN Client, the taskbar on my system freezes for about 5 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but like 7 out of 10 times it does.

Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del does not react. Sometimes pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del many times brings the system back. Programms already running before starting the VPN-connection are ready to use during the freeze, new programms can't be started...

anyone a clue?

much appreciated!

Hello, Were you ever able to figure out the fix for this issue? I have 3 Dell Desktop machines that are having the exact same issue, exactly the way you describe it. I have tried too many things to list here (unless someone requests) but I can not squash this bug. Even the new 5.0 VPN Client does the same issue. I have spent hours googling and reading forum posts, and while I see more than a few mentions of this issue, I have been unable to find the silver bullet that fixes this. To someone else having this problem, when troubleshooting if you go into the VPN client program options you can uncheck the "Hide on Connect" so that you can alt-tab over to disconnect when it gives the problem. Thanks
