Correction to the above solution. After further review. The issue was completely with McAfee Update. This is a solution that resolved my issue. Please make sure you have your McAfee subscription information handy or your McAfee registration information: User Name and Password.
First you will have to uninstall McAfee completely either using suggested link or Uninstall Program from Windows
If you will get an issue with the removal process try to do it from safe mode. To enter safe mode. Turn off your computer. Then turn computer back on and right away press several times F8 to get to the Advanced Boot Screen from which you can chose Safe mode with Network Support
Second you will have to restart computer and you should get internet connection after that
Install download and install Java from www.java.com

Use this link to log into McAfee website and re download McAfee and install it again.
I have the same problem. Similar configuration to above user. Also, i noticed that my Dell XPS can see network and my router sees Dell XPS however, no internet connection. I tried connect using wireless same result.
Tried to uninstall/reinstall dell network drivers with same result. I checked Windows Update that were installed lately. Nothing was installed in the last two days when I lost connectivity.
That is also what happened to my laptop. I JUST got my laptop not even a month ago. I have my own router and the other computers and laptops and phones connected to WIFI in my house are connecting fine. It says it is connected to my WIFI router's name but it says that there is no internet activity. If anyone knows how to resolve this issue, the answer would be greatly appriceated.
I uninstalled McAfee and it fixed the problem. Apparently there is an issue with McAfee. I also found out from Dell Support that McAfee caused an issue with Dell hardware and they will send a technician to replace defective part. So I suggest for all of you who have a problem similar to my to contact dell support so they can do the same for you.
Hey everyone! So I managed to fix it on my own this morning by just restoring my computer to a previous date. I picked the day before and once I restarted, lo and behold, it works fine again. I think it was either the McAfee update or the windows update that got me. Hope this helps you guys out and thanks for all the response!
I was able to isolate this problem to McAfee Antivirus that came with my laptop. When I log into safe mode with network support I get internet connection. I remember that there was update recently to McAfee. Maybe this is when the problem started. Will keep you updated as to my findings
There was an update for McAfee, around Saturday night that caused connection problems. Use system restore and go back a day or two before Saturday night and the connection should come back.
Your solution was absolutely spot on. I uninstalled McAfee and then reinstalled; everything was up and running AND with internet connectivity. All is well with the world once again!

PaigeEatsPandas,
Try system restore before Saturday night. If you still have connection problems, create a new thread in the Dell Networking, Internet, Wireless Forums
