villageidiot,

Does the 1525 have Windows Live Care in it? Is it the paid version or the trial version? The error message seems to come from Windows Live Care. This is NOT a networking issue and you may get better help in the Micsrsoft OS Forum. I read to do a scan, you have to run as administrator and people are having issues with that. If this is the trial version, I'd remove Windows Live Care from the computer.

firstly, thanks for taking time to give me some help.

the 1525 has windows live favorites for windows toolbar.

                           "          "   installer.

                           "          "  mail.

                           "          "  messanger.

                          "          "    photo gallery.

                          "          "    sign in assistant.

                         "           "    toolbar.

      and            "           "    writer.

i use live care on the desktop with no problems but the administrator error codes come up on the 1525.

the 1525 also gets the administrator error when trying to update dirctly from the microsoft site, although the automaic updates work through windows.

villageidiot,

Let's try something that's sort of simple. Download Malwarebytes, update it and do a quick scan. Have it remove anything it finds. If it finds anything, let me know and then you may need to go to Malware Removal Forum and read the top post for the instructions on what to do. I have my suspicions that you have some type of malware that has affected your computer. After the malware is gone, then I'd repair the operating system and that should bring everything back to new again, with all your files and folders intact.
