aol ,modem,help

Ok i don't know what is going on.

it started about 3 weeks ago i went to sign on to AOL and it said it needed to download some files to get on .But it would not do anything so i called AOL and they said it was on their end and not my comp and that they would have it fixed in a couple of days well i did not get fixed so i called back well they said they would send a disk out that would fix it.Well the disk was just a upgrade and it did not work.

now they are saying it is my comp.

i can not even sign on to another internet serve because it says i don't have a modem or that my modem is busy.

what is really weird is that if i run AOL 7.0 i can get on but i all i can do is check my e-mail.

i tried to restore my dell but it well not restore to any day at all.

if anyone can help please my comp.is a new one and i can not even use it.
