bugcode usb driver on dlink dl-200 adsl modem
Can anyone help? I recently got a Dlink DL-200 ADSL modem from my ISP and, having installed the drivers that came on their CD, I now get a blue screen of death with the message "bugcode usb driver " after a couple of hours online.
I didn't get this message when using an Alcatel Speedtouch 330 modem. I have already tried the Dlink site for the latest drivers, but they're the same as those on the CD, with the same result.
Microsoft's Knowledge Base claims the problem is known, and will be solved in SP2 of WinXP -- but I already have WinXP Home SP2. (saw the article yesterday. I think it was dated 2001).
I also read that some USB problems may be related to the device not receiving enough power through the USB port. So I plugged the modem into a powered USB hub, but that too had no effect.
So I'm now appealing to the wider community. I suspect the source of this doesn't lie squarely in one camp or the other, but in some interaction. Am I unique in experiencing this behaviour? Has anyone managed to solve it?
Thanks.
