'cannot launch acrobat'

I  have a Dell inspiron 4600 xp (2003) running adobe 9,0. I get the error message when I try to open a pdf file from the internet. I have bo problem opening the same file using my Vista system.. I also can open pdf files on the XP system from the desktop.

An adobe forum user has said Dell has a fix for the problem but I have no warranty service for the XP system. Can anyone help?

I would actually recommend you update your adobe reader.  The best way is to get the uninstall tool from adobe, close your browser, uninstall adobe 9.0, restart the computer, get adobe reader 9.1 (from eg file hippo), and install.  You have to get the correct version for your browser(s).  This is because of a security problem which affects reader 9.0 and previous versions.  I don't actually know if Dell has a fix for the problem, but this is what I did.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:

Once you've uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader, I suggest you give FoxIt Reader a try instead :emotion-55:
