getting microsoft updates to work through d-Link dsl G604T router

hi, i just got a D-link G604T router/switch today, and got so far as connecting my adsl. and making sure ftp etc works, however when i try to update xp through the microsoft website it says if anyone knows how to fix this it would help heaps, while i try to fix it too..... ok fixed the problem explorer had some very strange proxy setting, i never set it to lol now i have other problems hosting games and the DMZ settings
