hit with a bot
Hi ....
Got hit with a bot on the puter Dell Inspiron 5100 using Win XP. Ran Spybot search and destroy (updated) but still have the pesky little critter. Keeps sending pop-ups advertising various junk including a removal tool which I believe is a dangerous download pic of internal info. Have any ideas where to go to get rid of this ....would like to whack it.
Thanks,

Go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.

Did you post a HijackThis log on the HijackThis forum as I suggested in my previous message.

Tried dl'ing the suggested ware programs and running them (updated). Did rid the puter of many ugly spyware but still have an embedded prog that cotinues to send a yellow triangle with a exclaimation mark giving a message to dl their antivirus program. I have already scanned the puter with AVG antivirus and no infected progs. I tried to delete IE from Program files but the critter reinstalls IE as soon as I delete it. Any other suggestions on how to whack this little critter?
Thank for your suggestions so far.

In the Hi-Jack instructions they refer to a "forum" Do they mean the Dell forum or is there a Hi-Jack "forum"?
Thanks

You need to post in a forum where there are experts in HijackThis can offer you assistance. I provided you with a link to Dell's HijackThis forum in my first reply. Please read that reply again and click on the link to the HijackThis forum where you should post your log.
