inspiron 600m dock

Question

Our daughter has an inspiron 600m and cannot connect to her cable network with the laptop docked.  She had to reformat her computer several months ago.  We think she has put all of the software back on.  Is it possible she missed something that would prevent her from being able to dock and connect.

It is also possible it is as simple as rebooting the cable modem as it does not look for changes to what is connected after it is turned on.  So it wouldn't know a different MAC address is connected.
