Updating your modem means installing the latest driver for your modem. What model computer do you have and what version of Windows is installed on it?
There is a high probability that your ISP told you to update your modem because they were unable to determine a cause for your problem. Can you describe the problem that you are having?
Just caution About 1 month ago, I had the same situation with my Dell Dimension 8200 and conexant modem. upgraded modem driver as advised./ I have been completely off line since then. Dell as well as others indicate the only way to get back on line with my modem is to do a complete install of the operating system. There appears to be a software problem with the operating system since then.
sometime I do plan to be back on line with my Dell computer.
