jennyrob,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

Can you give us a little more information such as what model computer, what modem you have, who your ISP is and any messages you might receive.

Hi there, Thank you for your response.

I am using a :- Dimension 2400.

Windows XP home edition

Service tag :- HVMM91S

Product key number :- BKY3Y - M4Y94 - 6FJBQ - KQ2FG - FRFWQ

I have rang Dell Computers on the 0800 (as I am in New Zealand), numerous times to get this computer sorted out, I have also requested them to get a tech here to investigate whats wrong with the computer and I have tried to get Dell to refund the money and collect the computer as I am not a happy customer of theres, but for unfortuntly for me, NO ONE has done anything to help me out.

As far as I am concerned this was an extremely bad purchase and the warranties and guarantees that comes with the purchase is a load of rubbish, as Dell for me has done NOTHING to help me out.

I am sorry for posting this message in such a negative way, but I want the truth to be heard and for other customers to beware of Dell products also the customer help service via the telephone.

I am open to any suggestions that you may offer me to get this sorted out.

Thanking you

Ya, Dell Tech Support is the worst. They should hire a couple of these guys from the Forum here. (BigBrother/Predator and others....)

I just started using a modem 6 months ago. Only had cable before so I don't know much about this, but was able to get mine running. I've been here reading trying to learn more.

What ISP are you using? After troublshooting my modem, ports, drivers etc....I still had problems. Turns out it was the ISP software and Internet explorer. I deleted Internet Explorer, Netscape and uninstalled the modem again. Rebooted. Reinstalled the ISP software for Netscape and have worked for two days now. Hope it will keep working.

I first started having problems when microsoft IM update keeps popping up. Thought if I clicked on it, it would give the option to install or not. Hung up my computer, crash and the rest is Micrcrap history.
