Re: "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly"

I have the same error with a Latitude D810 & a Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN MiniPCI Card.  I haven't been able to find any information on this message.  I even removed the software, installed a version 3 of it and got the same error.  Maybe Dell will step up to the plate & post a fix???

Re: "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly"

Hi guys,
I just started to get the same problem, about 2 or 3 minutes after startup also.

The program's icon is the same as the "Wireless Configuration Utility" in Control Panel.

Now it started happening right after I restarted my computer, from fiddling with windows services (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services)

Here's the website I was following:
http://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/windows_xp_services_2.php

Perhaps it is linked in with one of these Windows services?

Hopefully this will shed some new light onto the situation and I'll let you know if I find a service linked with this message.

John

Re: "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly"

Hi all,

Back to the beginning. The reason it seems I may be going off on this little tangent is because I received that very problem e problem "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly" after following this guide to fiddle with windows services
http://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/windows_xp_services_2.php

So i've undone all the changes made from that guide, and my problem was fixed, so now i've tried this guide http://www.jasonn.com/turning_off_unnecessary_services_on_windows_xp without getting a single error afterwards.

So what i've done is made of a copy of the list of services from overclockersclub, and removed all the services from that list, that I have found from jasonn.com

Now our potential culprit is one or two of these 45 instead of out of 76.

I have exams to prepare for over the next few days, but if some of you are ok, we could split the workload 15 services each between us. (Now I see a fair few people viewing this topic, please if you feel you have the time to help, even doing 5 services would do the world of good.)

All that has to be done is change the service it to it's opposite (automatic if disabled, disable if automatic), reboot and wait your 3 minutes or so and see if it fixes the error.

Hope we can find a solution to this problem.

John

Re: "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly"

Would have preferred an attachment. Way easier to see. But I removed everything that doesn't apply and am left with-

DHCP Client
Event Log
Internet Connection Sharing
Logical Disk Manager
Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service
Network Connections

NT LM Security Support Provider
Plug and Play
Print Spooler
Protected Storage
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Routing and Remote Access
Security Accounts Manager
Server

Smart Card
Smart Card Helper
Windows Installer
Windows Management Instrumentation
Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extension

I'll start with these in hopes that W2k and XP are similiar.
BTW, thanks for the post.

Re: "Notification dll has not been registered, program will not work correctly"

Hi guys,

It's good to see some interest in fixing this problem.

I'm on holidays and don't have the internet readily available.  Try and give it a go, i'll should be back in 6 or 7 days.

thanks,

Only problem is if it is a couple of services and my group only holds one. If I had a working system I could knock off one at a time and wait for the error message.

Be careful of disabling the PNP service!

Correction, be careful of disabling any automatic service that you can't 'Stop'.

Check out:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_wireless&message.id=13894

It didn't work for me but the one message points to
COM+ Event System
or System Event Notification

The second looking fairly obvious now.
