'Wizard cannot find hardware' for network setup

Question

I am installing Windows XP sp2 on a Dell Dimension 1100/B110 without the original software (recovery) disks, they are lost. I have downloaded all the Dell drivers for my service tag and installed them (no yellow question marks in the Device Manager) but I cannot locate any of my network devices. I even installed a D-Link Ethernet card DFE530TX+ with its drivers and it won't show up either. I cannot install any network connections from the network wizard, as all it tells me it cannot locate any network hardware. On Internet Explorer 6, all I get is 'Page cannot be displayed' on any web site I type in the address bar. I am about to my wits end with this one, any suggestions?
