wireless card not picking up signals

I recently had to replace the hard drive on my laptop.  After reinstalling windows xp, my wireless card will not pick up any signals, including the wireless network in my house.  Any suggestions?

Did you re-install the drivers for the wireless card?

Yes, I think so.  When I went to dell to download the driver it gave a list of about 8 that were compatible with my computer.  My computer has a 1394 net adapter in it.  I installed the Dell_wireless(US) WLAN card.  Is that right?  It said that it was compatible with the 1390 net adaptors. But its not making a difference.

Which notebook model do you have?

IEEE1394 is better known by its registered trademarks:  Firewire by Apple, and iLink by Sony.  1394 Net Adapter is in fact the Firewire port on your notebook and is not a wireless adapter.

You can confirm which wireless adapter you have by entering your Service Tag in #1 and Original System Configuration in #2:
