Dell has consistently shipped faulty software with its routers and it causes numerous problems.  Look in the User Guide for the router and use the Web Based Configuration Utility.  The router will make the necessary PPPoE connection if you configure it to do so.  You do need
the modem software at all, so don't even try to install that.

I hear ya volcano. Both the windowsxp key code and the wicrosoft office key code were worthless. I spent an hour on the  phone with tech support and he had me completely delete the office program and reinstall it with the cd they sent me and it still would not register. It said the key was no good so he finally gave me a new one and that worked. I said why didnt we just do this in the first place. I think it was a default key that I had to use. Then he says now lets do the same thing with windows xp pro and I told him they didnt send me a recovery disk for that. He says I can download one which would do no good cause the security code would not work for ir either lol.

Anyway he finally gave me a number for microsoft to ask them about a new key code and would'nt you know it its a pay support site.
