Dell F10 4810 logs=IP-4-ADDRMOVE...
Hi,
One of our 4810 is logging a lot of theses:
%STKUNIT0-M:CP %ARPMGR-6-MAC_CHANGE: IP-4-ADDRMOVE: IP address 10.0.200.88 is moved from MAC address 7c:d1:c3:dc:e0:a1 to MAC address 2c:59:8a:19:da:a1.
Most of the IP's affected are on a power connect POE for my Aruba AP's, probably a coinincidence, but...
Can anyone explain what is going on with that logging?
Thanx,
Dany

Hi,
That error most likely is caused by an IP address conflict. Each device’s MAC address is getting registered.

Hi Josh,
That was my impression at first, but since my initial post, all my (5 x 4810) core switch are reporting the same log with different IP. Weird thing is that the reported IP's are on power connect switchs.
Thanx anyways!

This is strange, I am having an identical issue w/ Aruba APs and my dell S4048-ON. Every 4 hours, I get a very similar log entry where the MAC associated w/ the AP IP changes from the AP to the firewall, and then very quickly back to the AP. Every 4 hours, and only with the access points. I thought this was worth mentioning because you are also using dell/force10 switches with aruba APs. I haven't been able to explain this.
The access points are connecting to Dell S4148Ps. The core is 2 x S4048-ON.

I have a similar log message on my C9010, and I do not have a IP conflict, as I know. The logs appears after 4 hours, hows the user above says. Had anyone discovered what issue is causing this?

Hi,
from the original post the IP address mentioned moved from an Apple device to an LG device.
It is not uncommon to see such logs from wireless clients getting dynamic IP addresses.
Imagine the DHCP lease time is 4 hours and if you have a quite populated address pool for your wireless clients
it might happen the IP will get claimed by another device now and then.
We are logging these IP moves on our switches to help identifying problems in the network.
If you want to ensure this is expected trace the devices with the reported MAC addresses and check your DHCP server logs.
Regards,
Tim

Hello. I have been having issues with multiple IP address changing MAC addresses on all our S5000 Dell switches. This is happening on both physical and virtual servers, Dell SAN, Key Managers, etc. All IPs are STATIC and we are NOT using DHCP or wireless. Each pair of switches are connected via VLT on a port channel and are not stacked (as configured by Dell). What is causing this and how can it be stopped? Switch info follows:
