HA clustering failover

Hello,

I have 2 dell n4032 10gb switches and I have been trying to configure them for HA failover and I can't seem to get it right.  Can someone assist me with detail configuration?

I have Fo1/1/1 on SW1 to Fo2/1/2 on SW2 and Fo1/1/2 on SW1 to Fo2/1/1.  I then have the ports that are connected to SW1 from the servers, mirrored on SW2.. for instance, server 1 has nic port 1 connected to SW1 port 2, I connect server 1 nic port 2 to SW2 port 2 and so on...   Am I missing something?

Whatever assistance you can provide will be appreciated!

Thank you!

When it comes to the switch, there are a couple of ways to configure HA.

Stacking is one option. This allows multiple switches the ability to work together as one logical switch.  Here is a white paper that covers stacking the switches.

There is another feature called MLAG, which allows the switches to work together, but with this feature the switches are standalone. Here is a white paper on the use of MLAG.

What OS is installed on your server? Some operating systems will default to a switch independent teaming mode. With the switch independent teaming there is no need to make any config changes on the switch, such as creating a LAG. You do not even need to configure stacing or MLAG when using switch independent teaming.

If utilizing LACP or static LAG on the server, the switch will need to be configured to match the server config. The switches will also need to be stacked, or utilize MLAG.
