DellDriverDownloadManager.application Save/Run Fail
PC: Inspiron 530 Windows Vista, 15 months old
In attempt to download driver updates, I saved the "DellDriverDownloadManager.application", required for multiple files, instead of running it. It doesn't run/install when double clicked (NOW it's obvious to me, that the extension is not a self extracting or executable. I was a liitle slow in my realizing this). The standard pop up window asks to Use Web Service (which indicates it's a ClickOnce application and go to NET Framework for help, requiring another setup exe, which I'm avoiding at this time) or Select from program list.
Download of individual driver or driver list now causes a "File Download" window to pop up asking do you want to save file "DellDriverDownloadManager.application", with only the "Save" and "Cancel" button options. No run option is available as was initially when I decided to save the "DellDriverDownloadManager.application" instead of running it.
Deleting the "DellDriverDownloadManager.application" and restarting the PC didn't help either.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

To use the Dell download manager you must have the Windows .net framework installed (use Windows update). Though it's not made clear by Dell, you DO NOT need the manager. Go into your browser settings and delete all Dell cookies (or clear all your browser cache). Then go back and choose "download using my browser" when you select the file for download. You will then not need the Dell download manager at all.

One word of caution: If your 10-100 ethernet is not installed (which is possible on a new hard drive install) the Dell download site should inform you that you will not be able to use your browser to receive any needed software to complete the install.
