Error Code 5300:031E
HI, I am new to this but am having major trouble with my Dell C521. First I could not get windows to boot, the monitor would just be black. On the dell start up screen I went to set up and ran the long tests. It came back with error code 5300:031E. I have no idea what this means. Then today I can not even get the tower to turn on. I know it has power because I can see the little yellow light inside at the rear of the tower. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also going to get another power cord and see if that may be the problem as far as the tower not turning on. Hopefully it will work and then I can really find out about the windows issue. Oh, my windows is XP. Thanks again.

From another forum post that error code suggest a bad video card. If you have a separate video card, reseat the card (with power off, unplug the card then plug it back in) and see if that helps. If you just have the on-board video and it's defective the only option is to replace the motherboard with a new Dell motherboard. As this is not a "new" PC, if it is a motherboard you may want to consider a new PC as the $$ spent on a new motherboard and you will still have an "old technology" PC.
As far as the PC powering on, it's not a bad power cord or you wouldn't get the light on the motherboard. Do you get any power light indicator color on the front panel? e.g. Blinking Amber or Solid Amber which could help in problem diagnosis.
