memory

Question

Have a Dell 531s, has 1 gb memory, 32 bit system and processor 2.01 ghz.  System is so slow I want to break it.  Processor makes a lot of noise and thought maybe it was time to add memory.  How do I know what speed to get?  Also, does anyone know why when I try to watch TV,  the screen will go white and then it will make a loud noise?  I'd appreciate the info.

If you are using Vista, upgrading the memory to 3gb may help.

For guaranteed compatible memory upgrades for your Dell Inspiron 531s, go HERE and use either Crucial's System Scanner tool, or their Crucial Memory Advisor tool.
