monitor sp2309w

The learning part of my username says it all. My new computer system just came in. The monitor sits at about a 2 o clock angle leaning back a bit. I read anothers comment and one pearson had remarked about the way the monitor sits. I find no way of changing it so it can / will stand more straight. Does anyone know about this?? Is it something i will just have to get use to? I havent unpacked the computer yet. I am going from what i call a little dial up learner computer to one i had dell build and have some growing into. Thanks

According to the Dell manual  HERE  it is "double hinged" and I would take that to mean it can be adjusted.  It states "lift and lower the base hinge for proper viewing" and if you haven't tried to adjust that, it's probably the problem.  If you can't move it or figure out how to, since it is a new installation it's best to call Dell support.  If there is a problem with the unit, Dell support is the only way to get it replaced.

Mine has no problem with the stand, I have it perfectly vertical and in fact it can even angle facing down about 5 degrees or so. In the box, the monitor is horizontal, the stand is kind of like an arm with an elbow. There is a point at about 45 degrees where it feels like the monitor will not go any further, but don't believe it. Just use two hands and keep bending the screen, it will eventually get past that halfway point and then move around with ease. You may need to adjust the height to get the angle correct, you may have it too high. Mine sits pretty low.

I don't care for the stand, I much preferred the one on my Dell 2007FP monitor (which also cost about twice as much).

Just got this screen..looks good but@

I think my stand has the same problem.

Basicaly the arm that is connected to the base will not go straighter than 45 degrees.... this is a major pain in the backside as it make the screen VERY close to my face.

I have tried using force, but am pretty sure any more will break the stand.

Is there no way to get the arm perfectly vertical?

The arm connected to the base should not be straight up, my screen is perfectly vertical  and the arm at the base is at a 45 degree angle. If you want THAT to be vertical, then I misunderstood. I thought people were having a problem making the screen itself vertical.

If you want the screen to be vertical, then yes it will be very close to the front of the stand. Just move the stand back if it's too close to you. :)

I am at a loss as to how this monitor stand works.

Currently it is laid back at an almost 45 degree angle. The arm is at 45degrees but I can't get the screen to go vertical. It seems to be stuck. I don't want to force it in case it breaks. I can find no solution to this in the support section of this website.

I DONT want the arm to be vertical. I want the SCREEEN to be vertical just as it shown in all the support documents and specification sheets that has come with the monitor. It states no way of achieving this. Only that it is double hinged. I understand that, but it simply doesn't make the screen sit at a comfortable viewing angle. Even if the arm is almost flat it still doesn't work.

If you think that this laid back position is acceptable then either you sit 6 feet off the floor looking down on your desk or your neck is roughly 4 feet long.

Nevermind I have fixed it.

How to fix:

Remove the screen from the stand. It's just two screws. Remove said screws and then slide the screen upwards away from the stand.

Place screen somewhere safe.

Now take the stand and hold it so that the back of the stand is facing toward you. Push the bracket that holds the screen on away from you so that it is going to go vertical. It takes some pressue to get it to go but it will eventually go. I had to get another person to help my push to get it to go vertical.

Now slide your screen back on to the holding bracket and replace the screws. Now your screen will be fully adjustable! Have fun!
