why not go to your support page at dell.com and load the sound drivers from dell and only dell.

then tell what GPU port or cards you use.  HDMI is GPU ports,  and is a unique path there as is DP. for sound.

first is main real 3.5mm green jack sound get that working first. ok??

2017 made PC, not old. the sound chip  3050 test #1 do $1 earbuds work in the Green rear auto out line out jack? y/n? this is test 1, and must pass this simple test. I've lost my sound.. (well you have the wrong drivers loaded ,for SURE)

All the tests I run say there are no speakers attached or internal .(  they are attached you mean but are missing in the driver,)

There is no speaker selection or sound control app and and no inputs or outputs listed.

The device manager shows no realtek sound drivers despite repeated installs. (

(well you loaded the wrong ones that is why DM can not see them they are wrong, a very very simple reason)

is a hi-definition audio driver listed but I believe that is the HDMI channel. HDMI is a whole other thing, and drivers for that must be good too, no GPU told nor what HDMI port tested. This all occurred after I installed optane memory. (installed software hardware or both?) tell this story. and why in the world in 2020 year, use optane anything?

I did that because of errors reporting no optane memory during file transfers. How do i fix this?

(sorry IDK how but reload w10 fresh from MS, and use the Ethernet port wired to the router as you do. this PC shows support at dell for w7 up, what did your PC come as NEW, even Ubuntu v16 sold. new. history matters, what did you have new and what is it now, the OS.

Realtek , AMD, NVIDIA and INTEL HD audio drivers get broken with every windows feature update.  3050 models are 64 bit only windows 10 only models.

They must be removed and re installed.

easiest fix for this is to download the cab file that has ALL the drivers.

Then move this cab file to the MY documents folder.

Then extract the contents of the cab sitting in my documents using 7zip.

Well the issue is fixed according to Dell. They told me to remove the Optane memory and that did fix the sound but I wanted the optane memory to work. The tech assistant suggested it was a conflict with the optane memory and  DDR4 memory.  I verified that when I installed the Optane memory card again and lost the sound again.
