330, motherboard upgrade
Hello! I was wondering if I can upgrade my Optiplex 330's motherboard with a newer, non-Dell one, with all the ports and buttons in the front working?

No, Dell boards are proprietary. Time for newer computer. Optiplex 330 model is old. Dell does not even have drivers for it.

Driver CD's for the 330 can still be ordered from eBay.
@Mary G is right about the motherboard. It's too proprietary to even upgrade to a different Dell motherboard.

Hi @speedstep,
Ha! You missed 760 & 780 from that generation.
As for the 'newer' end of your list, refurb places are still selling them. Besides Dell Community, support usually comes from the refurb place for a year with a 1 year warranty. Higher end like the Precision or newer Optiplex's, I've seen some 3-year warranties. Questions on older computers won't stop anytime soon. Them Optiplex's were made to last and run great with Win 7 & 10. I'll take a corporate or gaming computer almost any day compared to home computers. I like computers that were or are ahead of their time when made. With new HP home computer towers, one pays for the processor and the rest is cheap and flimsy.

760 and 780 are newer and came with Vista Business or even windows 7.
390/790/990 is on the ragged edge of support but I suspect will drop off after 2018.
There wont be any Spectre or Meltdown microcode bios updates for those models ever.
That comes from INTEL in their April Report.
