not enough information on that 7010, what PSU, what are all the addtions to it, hdd ,? or?

what OS, 32bit ended at ATI in OCT2018,(frozen forever)? w7/8/10  64bit? which one.?

  • has to fit and not hit, (the cards any RXnnn card can any many sizes, not just 1 size , READ the spec.)
  • UEFI is a problem, (forced to use it can be a problem) forcing UEFI compliance on the GPU card.!
  • we learn now some dells have no CSM mode.(ends legacy card usage) my 3020 has CSM. runs any card.
  • The x16 socket limit , if present, 35w?  super limiting if true. GTX1030 is 30 watts so good.
  • XP  did you say XP or is that just off topic  here. nobody runs XP in 2019, that is over the top bad.
  • PSU limits if 200watts.  but socket limit trumps that. easy.
  • 77watt,s i7 core. i7 3770  , is a factor if present and last worse.
  • The stock PSU uses  high power 3/5v rail set that 99% of new PSU do not have the 150watt rule ..
  • Some GPU card makers , are 100% UEFI only cards, and block CSM  mode,  this is not all makers.

the poster never told usage. at all,

PCs do 10,000 things, is this gaming only>? only AAA games for =$60 a pop or what?

or running just  some old CAD software or old games or old video rendering, so  DX12 is not an issue.

ATI has zero coverage on this topic on their forum and same with knowledge base , legacy covered,

well but the reverse  it does on, old cards not new cards covered on old PCs, so SURE you come here.

The 7010 is a legacy machine that can boot and run windows xp.

This means R series cards with UEFI will not work properly.

So right off the bat its not working.

Beyond that you can only use short single fan cards.

3rd strike against you is the power supply is LESS THAN 300W so 75W cards are not supported.

The ONLY card you can use is GEFORCE GT1030.

https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/pny-geforce-gt-1030-graphics-card-2-gb-gddr5-low-profile/apd/a9763687/graphic-video-cards

Thats why the Radeon HD5450 at 19W is fine.

These older dell radeon HD cards are fine but they do not support directx 11 or 12 so I do not recommend them for new installs.

So is it different with nvidia cards my friend have the same machine and it's working fine with gtx 1050ti and i had seen people online seeling dell 7010 with (his rx480) and msi rx 580 but when i saw the length of the msi card i wasn't sure that they will fit in the case because the sata cables whould get in the way and i was wondering if there is any customization need to be done so the card fit any or it just fit

R Series Cards will not work.  EPS12v  700W power supply with 150W minimum combined on the 3.3v/5v rails is REQUIRED. Validated cards from Dell are

ATI Radeon HD 7470

https://www.amazon.com/Graphics-01308-01-102-C6405-Pegatron-113-C2641100-108OUGA9/dp/B078HD87CH/

HD6450

ZOTAC 1050TI mini fits and works in all Dell towers that I can think of.  Its a single FAN short card less than 8 inches long.

1050 TI MINI1050 TI MINI

Older Radeon HD 2000 3000 4000 5000 6000 7000 8000 series work because they are now Legacy and no longer supported.  That does not mean not working just means no new driver updates EVER.

NViDIA cards up to and including GTX 1080 TI will work IF they fit into the case and IF you have upgraded to AT LEAST a 700W  EVGA B1 power supply.

People keep choosing power supply based on a single spec of Watts ignoring what the MAX RATING is on the 3.3v /5v Rails.

That's why EVGA 700B1 and 750B1 work but the B2 BQ W1 N1 series from the same vendor DOES NOT and WILL NOT EVER work correctly.

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-BRONZE-Warranty-Tester-100-B1-0700-K1/dp/B018JYHBE6/

There is a reason why the power supply is $90 to $130  vs   $29 to $39.

Price is not a specification.

The EVGA 850BQ model does work because it has 160W combined on the 3.3v / 5v Rails.

The 32 bit windows XP compatible Optiplex 7010 bios requires MSDOS VESA Video Mode 103 in order to get into F2 BIOS Setup.

No R series card supports this so its not working fine.

The 7020, 7030, 7040, 7050, 7060 models have CLASS 2.3.1 Secure Boot Windows 8 UEFI Bios and WILL NEVER BOOT XP or Vista Etc.

Systems past Skylake will not LEGACY Boot and will not run even windows 7 as they are WINDOWS 10 ONLY.

Insisting that its working does not make it so.

XP requires MBR BIOS LEGACY and the 7010 supports that.

XP will not EVER run on a 7020 7030 7040 7050 7060.

and R series no CSM  . (most yes, all , no)

reading at ATI forum I see this, the first line nails this (each MFG of card does what they want)

As far as I understand it, it is upto the manufacturer as to what BIOS(s) they install on the cards, they can either go legacy only, combined UEFI & Legacy or UEFI only.  UEFI only gives the fastest boot times.  Eventually at some point things will be UEFI only I would imagine.  Using a legacy only GPU BIOS means that UEFI BIOS motherboard owners have to use CSM module driver in their BIOS which slows down their boot times.  Using a combined legacy + UEFI firmware means some legacy motherboards refuse to work with the cards since they can't interpret what it is.  Using a UEFI only BIOS means no legacy motherboards can run a card at all.  So no option is perfect for every possible system really.

some R series have or had a legacy dual BIOS switch (nice) top center of card,

MSI R9 290X

also this post 9010

then go into "Advanced Boot Options" and select the checkbox to "Load Legacy ROMS".  This will allow your non-certified hardware to load during UEFI boot (such as the ATI video cards mentioned above).  This option is NOT available if you have Secure Boot turned on, however since it does not turn on by default when you switch to UEFI mode, this isn't really a problem.

not sure   OptiPlex series 5 up,  2014 up. (no BIOS manuals, found at dell)

The worst place to be is VBIOS <> mobo BIOS,  (firmware wars are never fun)

"MT" was specified in the first post.  If someone puts a 500w PSU in their PC, chances are it's an MT; but it doesn't hurt to ask if not posted.  I've done the same thing on occasion - miss that the size was posted.

I'm sorry for insisting so much but i only concerned the rx 570 cause i saw people selling the 7010 with 570 in it so when you said that the case doesn't support the card it struck me so is there anything i can do in the bios to get it to cause when i asked they told me that they just updated the bios or is it possible that they changed the motherboard

100% will fit as I got the exact same gpu and pc and also you will most definelty need a new psu, 500w minimum here's a link to the one I got : EVGA 100-W1-0500-K3 - 500W 80 Plus Power Supply (100-W1-0500-K3)(EU Socket) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H33SFJU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6G.-Db3ZAN1B6
