780 DT, GPU and RAM upgrade help?
Hello! 3 days ago, I bought an Optiplex 780 Desktop for a low price,
brang it home, set everything up, downloaded windows 10, and then went on.
My goal was to upgrade this PC to the near maximum So I at least wanted a better Graphics card, and like 8 Gigs of RAM. I have been searching all these days for better equipment, but I just can't figure out what fits on my computer, I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 430 graphics card, So Im trying to figure out what can be a replacement for that.
Thank you all!!!

GT430 may not physically fit into the case and uses too much power.
8 Gigs of ram is possible but requires LOW Density Dell compatible ram.

GT1030 is known working upgrade.

Hi!
Thanks for the fast response!, Is a GT 1030 compatible with my Optiplex 780? I thought the max power supply for a Optiplex 780 Desktop is 255W
https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/optiplex-780-PSU/td-p/4784059
and a GT 1030 needs a minimum of 300W At the bottom it says, Minimum amount of power needed; 300W but that's from what I read, if it isn't compatible, what would be compatible?
Thank you!!!

Max RAM is 16gb @ 1066MHz. Crucial is highly recommended because it's guaranteed to work in Dell's. Kingston Value Ram (KVR) almost never works in Dell's. The volts can be off in off-brands.
Max CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz. Substitute modded Xeon's that pop up on eBay aren't recommended.
Max GPU - I'm leaving that to one of our other experts or Rockstars, like speedstep. Speedstep is more adept with GPU's than I am. Optiplex 780 Tech Guide is too far back to have any newer GPU's since its time of print, but is handy for other things.
SSD's also breathe new life into older machines.

Also, use Dell Support Assist and make sure BIOS is up to date. It might have to be done in steps depending on your current version. I went from A9 to A22, and had to download 1 or 2 other BIOS first, like A11 & A14 for example. Dell Support Assist showed me the downloads.
Since you're running Win10, I wouldn't be surprised if BIOS is up to date already.
