Dell Optiplex 3020 Memory/Power issues

Hi, so i have the following specs:

Dell Optiplex 3020 SFF

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30 GHz

Dell 255W PSU

2 Memory Slots

500GB Storage

With 1, 4gb 1rx8 ddr3 1600mhz Memory Stick

So i bought 2, 4gb ddr3 2rx8 ddr3 1600mhz Memory Sticks and went to install in my pc the proper way. After properly putting it in and making sure everything was safely plugged in, it gave me amber lights 2,3 which means it blinked twice, short pause, then 3. Then back to the same blinking

My pc doesnt power on at all from here, i then took out the 2 new rams and started testing the slots.

I put old ram in its original slot(2nd slot) and it booted well. I then tried my old ram stick in the 1st slot and attempted to power on and i got the 2,3 amber lights here as well.

I then tried both sticks separately in the 2nd slot to make sure they worked (which they did) but when i try any of the sticks in the 1st slot it gives me amber and doesnt show power at all.

Is there any way to disable the 1st ram slot and re-enable it? Or possibly a fix.

if you have tried many times using the old ram in DIMM1 and it never worked, and the old ram works like a charm in DIMM2,  DIMM1 slot is broken most likely.  this happens with some motherboard sometimes. If you do not notice any physical damage to the slot or gross dust or foreign material sitting in the slot, it may be electrically defective.  just do not use it any more and you will be okay.

By the number of views on this it is apparent there is a problem. Why handle this privately when there are plenty of people wanting to see the solution. I too have DIMM 1 causing a failure when populated.
