@bradthetechnut is correct about no standard PCIe x 16 slot in USFF.
the best cpu upgrade for you would be i7-2600 or i7-2600k. The -k cpu has no benefit in optiplex because Dell bios does not allow OC.
I heard some people connect a graphic card to the USFF via its mini PCIe connector socket on motherboard. you can use a Mini PCI-e to PCI-e x1 slot adapter and run a graphics card in PCIex 1 slot. You will need to provide auxiliary power to the external gpu most likely.
up grade to Intel 3rd Gen Core i7-3770 SR0PK 3.40GHz (Turbo 3.90GHz) 4-Core 8M LGA-1155 CPU and the i3 works but the boot up has 1,2,3 and 4 and number 2 does not light up moreover the Ram is (3x8GB)
@bradthetechnut hey its me again the one that asked about if i need a psu upgrade to upgrade my sff's gpu which you replied it should be fine well i havent gone through with that yet but i have a spare amd fx 4100 processor that's all i know and i am wondering can i put that in my dell optiplex 790 sff and is it a suitable upgrade from a i3 2120
@redxps630 FWIW the 2600k has an intel integrated graphics "3000" compared to 2600 which has a "2000" but yeah the rest is same in this case as you mentioned

If you don't know already, you won't be able to add a GPU card since USFF models have no expansion slots.
For a list of compatible CPU's please screengrab below. It'll show when approved by a moderator. I also linked the Optiplex 790 Tech Guide .

Good to hear. There's not too many options for GPU's for DT models, but at least there's something.

No. AMD sockets are entirely different. A list of compatible CPU's is toward the top of this thread in a screengrab.
