The Optiplex 380 takes DDR3 1067Mhz RAM to a total of 8 GB. Depending on which form 380 you have it has either a 235W or 255W PSU. With that size power supply you are not going to get any GTX series cards to work. Also keep in mind that model of Optiplex is pushing 10 years old. It really is time to consider upgrading to a new system with far more power. Take the money you would spend for RAM and a new video card and apply it toward a new much more powerful system.

The 380 780 980  390 790 990 have tiny power supplies.
If you want to upgrade the 380/780/980 you are limited to 25 to 40w cards.
This means the GT 1030 GDDR5 card is the best option.  3x faster than the GeForce GT 730.
