Inspiron 7010 17 laptop led power error code

Greetings all,

I have an older Inspiron 7010 17 laptop a neighbor asked me to look that is quite dead.  When the power is plugged in I get an front panel LED Power light that flashes one amber and two white flashes. The owner replaced the battery last month hoping that was the problem but it did not help. I have been searching for the description of that particular code sequence but have not been able to find it on the Dell website.  The only codes I have found ALL start with two amber flashes not one.  Anyone out there in Dell-Land have the meaning of the one amber / two white flashes code?

Many thanks in advance!

You might try posting here:  https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/bd-p/Inspiron?ref=lithium_menu

Even if the forum doesn't say "laptop," I couldn't find "Inspiron laptop," besides here, there's very knowledgeable people there.

Depending on where you are in the forum, one menu says "Inspiron desktop" and another simply "Inspiron."

Here's the service manual for the N7010 that is not very useful. Inspiron 17 (N7010) Service Manual (dell.com)

That is a 10 yr old windows 7 laptop. There are no genuine Dell replacement batteries available for such an old model.

The only thing that is worth trying is replacing the coin cell battery for about  $1 - $2. See the service manual for instructions.
