Install 2nd HDD in Optiplex 5040 SFF
The original 2.5 inch HDD is in place in the blue caddy. There's a place on the underside of the caddy to mount a second 2.5 inch HDD. It would need some small pins to hold the HDD in place and a splitter to run power from the main board. Anyone done this already? What parts did you use?

There is space for one 3.5" sata drive and two 2.5" drives so you should check for the 3.5 drive to see what's there. You might have a SSD in the 2.5 slot. You need another caddy for the 2nd 2.5 and its own power cable, not a splitter. There are 3 connectors on the board. See system board layout.

There is only a single 2.5" drive in the system currently along with an optical drive. They both connect to the main board using a single power connector. (See #28 on the system board layout) The additional drive I need to add would connect there as well. Hence I indicated a splitter. There is is no other location to supply power to the additional drive.
The existing caddy in the case can contain 2 2.5" drives even though there is only one currently. No need for another caddy.
