Optiplex 3010/390 SATA Expansion Card Compatibility

Hi folks,

I purchased a lot of 10 Optiplex 390/3010 systems from a school, it was cheap and figured I could get some use out of the aging hardware since I like to tinker with stuff.

I was attempting to fit a system with a PCI expansion card, so I got online and picked a random listing off of Amazon.

The card ended up not working, the system seemed to recognize it but I couldn't boot into anything whether the disk in question was installed into the motherboard SATA or the PCI-e SATA

not sure if its because I got some useless garbage, or if the system just isn't compatible. I don't want to try digging through Amazon garbage until I find something and waste a ton of time.

(if it needs to be noted, my disks are fine, they work on my primary system and when they are plugged in without the SATA expansion card)

Any advice?
