Optiplex 3060 PCIE Gen 3 M.2 ISSUE
DELL Optiplex 3060 PCIE M.2 slot work as Gen 2 x4 instead Gen 3 x4 with any NVMe disk.
The DELL manual and technical specifications report that 3060 / Intel H370 chipset work at PCIE Gen 3 x 4 line, and Up to 32 Gbps.
PLEASE RELEASE A BIOS FIRMWARE UPDATE that resolve this issue because now any NVMe Drive work at half speed. This failure to comply with the declared hardware specifications is very annoying and embarrassing for a brand as DELL.

I too have the same problem with this model. Tests have been carried out with different models of ssd NVMe and the result is disappointing. Could you issue a patch to remove this limitation and allow the disk to go to the massive speed indicated in the technical specifications?

I returning Optiplex 3060....and now finally I go at 3500mbps and PCIe Gen3x4 with my Nvme....but with another micro pc of other producer.
a sadness because I wanted a DELL and from the specifications also the 3060 had to go to gen3....

Same problem here, and it's amazing that so many Dell 3060 (and 5060?) owners have this blatant issue with their systems, yet Dell has done nothing to fix it, or have even said anything about it.
I just blew a wad of cash on Samsung 970 Pro (3,500/2,700 MB/s) and ADATA SX8200 Pro (3,500/3,000 MB/s) SSDs to upgrade 3060's, and what a waste - they are no faster than the SSDs we replaced. Yet toss them in other (even older) systems and they fly like the wind.
Just unbelievable.

Just got a call from Dell that this is a physical limitation of a scaled-down chipset implementation (from my poking around here it looks to be a hybrid of the H370 PCIe 3.0 and H310 PCIe 2.0) with a high-end CPU and memory PCIe 3.0 bus, but conversely a low-end PCIe 2.0 system and peripheral bus speeds.
Hypothetically, you could call it an H370S.
This is kind of a rook, as I thought I was buying a fully-fledged H370 system with 20 PCIe 3.0 lanes, but it turns out we got a scaled down version with a lot of PCIe 2.0 lanes to make up the difference.
I guess it comes down to market segmentation and cost-cutting with us as the victims. It will be very difficult for me to trust big computer suppliers, as the "official specs" seem to be fluid in most cases and totally incorrect in others. It's an H370.... kinda... but not really.
But at least now we know, and not only can move on, and are also forewarned of this behavior going forward.
