Optiplex 7080 NVMe thermal pad
Is using a NVMe thermal pad necessary ?
So far I have seen 2x Optiplex 7080 and neither of them have the thermal pad installed at factory.
In fact the last time that I have seen a thermal pad was in a Optiplex 7060.

This forum post may help. I have used SSD with and without heat pads and heatsinks. The difference was not drastic and the only time I had a drive exhibit excessive heat was when it was failing. Still it does offer a measure of peace of mind.

Heat NVMe's exhibit, like any drive, can depend on how heavy app(s) are using it.

Thanks for replies. I'm not doing anything IO intensive so it's probably not going to make a difference.
Anyway if it meltdown it'll be Dell warranty job, their fault for being cheap not fitting the thermal pad from factory.
