Optiplex 790 BIOS and Windows 10

Question

Computer is working but need some information.  Some time back it seemed appropriate to upgrade the computer BIOS through the Dell online system. The Bios was upgraded to A19.  The computer worked as expected but recently started asking if we wanted a  'Legacy boot on startup.  I am totally unfamiliar with the Legacy or UFEI or whatever terms.  I opened the Bios during startup and was startled to find the list of boot options did not appear to list the hard drive, in fact in order it lists: Diskette Drive, USB Storage Device, CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive, Onboard NIC and finally PO ST 500M002.. It appears that whatever the last item is the computer is using it to boot up.  All I would like to know is what is all this?

Beyondmecr, The PO ST 500M002 is the computer hard drive. The system would need to boot to the hard drive in order to load the OS.

It's not ... like the other options, they are "possible" boot options.

It's for booting from a server when it can't find a local drive to boot from. If you are asking about it, you don't have one or that ability on your LAN. :Smile:
