According to the 790 Tech Guide.pdf, your 790 has an Intel Q65 Express Chipset. On Intel's website, that chipset isn't listed as compatible with the I7-3770K. I7-3770K Chipsets, then scroll down to and tap or click on "Compatible products." (I couldn't make the link go right to that page.)
Processors can also be checked for compatible chipsets, but can't be guaranteed to work if not supported by Dell.
Depending on whether you have an MT, DT, SFF, or USFF, the Tech Guide has a list of compatible CPU's.

You cant use a 3770K you can use a 2600K.
