Optiplex GX620 and Optiplex 755

The power supply and cpu fan are running. I have 2 Optiplex GX620 and 2 Optiplex 755 that do the same thing.

They turn on, fans run, the light on the monitor blinks as if no signal.  I've replaced with another video card, other cables, tried other monitors... nothin'!

Please let us know what the power and diagnostic LEDs indicate, we can then have a clearer idea of what the issues are.

As with any machine, computer parts are more likely to fail the older they get. However, with the 3&4 LEDs it can just be a case that the memory modules have lost proper contact with the connector(s) on the motherboard. This can often be remedied by disconnecting, then re-connecting them. The user manuals for your systems both have guides on how to go about doing this:

http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-gx620_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf

http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-755_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf

If re-seating them doesn't help it may be possible to isolate the faulty part by swapping parts around:

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers!

Thank you very much or should I say, "Cheers, mate!"  I didn't even know diagnostic indicators ever existed!  (I'm 60 years old, haven't kept up with computers much).  The 3 & 4 lights are on on one computer, will get the rest down from the attic.  If it's a memory issue, why did they work for a year?

Thank you, Diamond... might I ask where you are from?

Ceti Alpha V

The fifth planet of the Ceti Alpha system. This system is located in Sector 25712 a considerable distance from the Delphic Expanse and the planet Denobula as well as three days away from Regula I at an unspecified warp speed.

Ceti Alpha V was the last gathering point for straggling human survivors after the Xindi wiped out Earth and all its major colonies in 2163.
