Remember, I showed the original Dell PSU has 98w on the 3.3v/5v rails.  Now you have 110w, and still running a 75w card, so you're good there.  I am concerned, however, that it only has 2.5a on the 5vsb rail, whereas the original has 4a.  The PSU's speedstep suggests, and the 450w I suggested, have 3vsb on that rail.  If by chance the new PSU doesn't work, that's where the problem lies.

I do wish you wouldn't went with one of our suggestions, but I do hope it does work out.  Please keep us informed.  Thanks.

Yo, so I went to my pc repair shop I talked about previously, discussed some things with them and asked about all the things you mentioned! He sent me off with this one and I’m still unsure if this will work, I had tried to explain but he assured me as long as I went bigger it would be fine. I am aware the max output on the 3.3- 5 volt rail is only 110..

Yes okay I get it now. Hooked it up and it started to boot then it shut off and did that a couple more times, just gonna assume the same! I’ll go back tomorrow and see about getting a refund or exchange

Yah, it won't run without proper voltage.  If you don't mind me saying, that computer guy doesn't seem that great.  I'm glad you're returning that PSU.

I think by now you also get that aftermarket PSU's will boast more total wattage, but cut corners elsewhere.

Did your 9010 even run without the GPU card installed?

  • Yes I’ll explain that the 5vsb rail has to be at least 3a then I should be good. Yess it ran fine up until the second power supply blew 5 months after using it. Since then haven’t been able to find the correct psu, and yes, this experience and people like yourself have enlightened me about the psu world and what to look for
