Problem setting up wireless printer

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 PC running on Windows 7, a Netgear router, Arris modem, and a Kodak Verite 55 inkjet wireless printer.  I downloaded the printer drivers, but when I tried to install them, I got an error message.  The printer support rep said it's a problem with either my router or computer.  I went into the Netgear genie and downloaded and installed their ReadySHARE files, but the printer is not showing up on Netgear's "list of printers this computer can see."  I don't know what else to do to make this work.  Can someone help me?

Start-over with a clean-install of proper driver.

Be sure it works with the wired-connection (I think it's only USB, but still ... try it.).

Make sure the printer is connected to the router and NOT to any computer on the network. Then it will appear in your network and can be used by all the computers in your network. Connect a usb printer cable from the printer to the router to set it up. Then after it is recognized you can disconnect the cable and use it wirelessly. Printer drivers should be installed on all the computers.

Edit-- As you probably already know, it will not be secure to use windows 7 on the internet after Tuesday.
