What size Optiplex do you have?  MT, DT, or SFF?

I can't say as to why the Hynix RAM failed as I don't have enough info.  I can say it failed 2x in my 755 MT.  After the 1st failure, I reseated it one at a time, powering on in between, starting with 0 chips, and it worked.  I couldn't put my PC to sleep with too many items open on the taskbar and it would fail.  After the 2nd failure, a hard restart took care of it.  I upgraded RAM to A-Tech 8GB total (max for this PC).  A-Tech has a lifetime warranty.  I needed to save a little $ over buying Crucial RAM.

Crucial RAM is commonly recommended by Rockstars, as it's guaranteed to work in Dell's and also has a lifetime warranty.  Kingston Value RAM (KVR) almost never works in Dell's.

There's not enough info in your post.  Did you buy the RAM new and it failed?  Does it therefore have a return policy?  Or have you had the PC and RAM a long time and it failed?  Whether the RAM is DDR2, DDR3, or etc., also makes a difference.

I do not know this, so please help.

what do you have in total, there, all RAM sticks tell that first

then test them all in DDR0 channel A socket 1 by 1, , if any fail, it is bad. the stick.

also upgrading BIOS can help.first.

you want to save money not buying certified ram this happens..... send it back and try other brand of ram.

DDR memory is tricky, like not mixing RAMS , as even mighty Intel tells you in the CORE data sheet there.

the MMC in the Intel allows mixing size (called FLEX RAM) but not mixing wildly different rank/bank or topological array types.  (if you do not violate speeds (min) you can mix that too but runs at the slower stick speeds)

your manual tells you how to test 1 stick of ram,  please do that, (most are Bank(lowest ) channal A )

do that first. any time RAM faIls do that even blow out the dust in that socket first,  using CAN-0-AIR sold even at walmart.  CLEAN IS ALWAYS BEST.

why in the world not tell case size so we can know what motherboard is there, and RULES ON THAT MATTER.

I couldn't tell before if you were using 4 or 8GB sticks, so thanks for clarifying.

DIMM capacity in the 3010 is 4GB, and its max capacity is 8GB total.  This is not to say people may have tried 16GB total, but it is untested and unsupported by Dell.

All one has to type is "3010 16GB" in the search bar and other threads come up on the subject.

Pardon me for missing it.  That's why we have Rockstars.

Wait a minute, I didn't miss it.   It's in the OP's 2nd post.

Hynix and kingston memory rarely works in dell computers.

Rock stars always recommend crucial brand if you cannot afford genuine dell brand.

This is the first I heard of Hynix rarely working in Dell's.  It's what my refurb came with, so I'm sure many others.  But as I mentioned before, Hynix failed me 2x and then I replaced it.

More specifically, as mentioned before, and as mentioned by one of our long-time Rockstars, it's Kingston Value Ram (KVR) (has "KVR" in model #) that rarely works in Dell's.  People have had success with Kingston's non-KVR RAM.
