Steve, you could also accomplish this the other way; You can simply use wine to run windows for those rare times you can't do without it.

Linus would like this better, and for sure it will work.

Current Hypervisor requires Core I5 I7 processors.

64-bit Processor with Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)

Hyper-V in Windows 10 has a specific hardware requirement. The CPU must support Second Level Address Translation, or SLAT. Most newer Intel i5 and i7 processors support SLAT, but some (notably mobile-optimized processors) don’t. You need to check the system before you can be sure that Hyper-V will work.

780 only supports core 2 duo or core 2 quad. you need at least Nehalem microarchitecture to support SLAT.

Nehalem was used in the first generation of the Intel Core processors (Core i7 and i5, with Core i3 being based on the subsequent Westmere and Sandy Bridge designs). Nehalem is the successor to the older Core microarchitecture (Intel Core 2 processors).

My 9020 mini tower with 32 gigs ram and core I7 works fine as a VM host.
