Where are you getting 8-core from? The Xeon's suggested by redxps630, though never tested by Dell, are 4-core. If you're looking at the list that comes up in userbenchmark when tapping red's links, it's only for the first one on the list. It might not be obvious to you yet, but it's pretty obvious the 755 can't take i7's, AMD Ryzen, and etc.
Another one unsupported by Dell for the 755 - core 2 quad Q9650. Unsupported certainly doesn't always mean not working. I used a Q9650 in my previous 755, maxed the RAM to 8GB, used an SSD, and the thing flew.
