Using 3 monitors via video card on Optiplex 9010 SFF
I have an Optiplex 9010 SFF and I also want to use 3 monitors. I have read the part about the DisplayPorts and adapters but my monitors have HDMI so I need to use adapters. Two monitors are HDMI and the other is a DVI.
My Question is: can I use 2 monitors on the integrated video output and put a video expansion card in one of the slots to run the other monitor. I have a GeForce HDMI/DVI card that I put in but when I rebooted I get some error message that I have a video card but the monitor is plugged into the integrated video. Is this telling me that it is an either or situation and that I cannot use both?

No you can't use the integrated video when you have a video card. The card must be removed from the computer to use the integrated video. Only the separate video card works when it is installed. Change the connection to the card. It will be a stretch to find a card with 2 or 3 ports for that old model computer with its very small inadequate power supply as well as the limited space in the case. You need an older model low profile card that does not require much power.

Mary,
Thanks, I kinda figured that but I didn't want to give up without finding out for sure. The documentation was very vague.
Thanks again.

@EdHardin This is an older PC, so you should be able to run monitors on the GPU and onboard graphics simultaneously. It is disabled by default in BIOS. To see if you can enable this on your pc, try enabling Intel Multi Display by following these steps:
