Why System Driver INTERROGATION can't be 100%

I thank GOODNESS for *all* of the dedicated "DELL folks" here that DO care and DO CONTINUE to offer FREE, truly OUTSTANDING Technical Support! HUZZAH!

OK folks, let's get real about Driver "updaters" from DELL and *ALL* other systems and software providers!

Creating SYSTEM INTERROGATION SOFTWARE  that "will work" 100% of the time or even 95% ~ to see what's under "YOUR hood" is asking A LOT!  This is ESPECIALLY TRUE for older Systems!

Truth is, "they" don't really CARE about a 3+ year old System anymore and some feel ~ why should they? "THEY" got their money and your System got band-aids. That your system even BOOTED to desktop with WINDOWS 8.0 was like a miracle!  But a legion of us have learned to LOVE our DELLS!

The REAL DEAL IS:  Companies like DELL, HP, Microsoft and other MAJOR providers ~ FIX NEW Computer SYSTEM ITEMS that CRASH SYSTEMS FIRST!  Next,  WHAT "NEW SYSTEM" 'DRIVERS',  DEVICE or software FEATURE IS generating "THE MOST COMPLAINTS" NOW? THOSE ITEMS get PATCHED or addressed SECOND!  I suspect DELL has the staff to do both at the same time, but some companies don't.  Also DO keep in mind, a company like DELL makes SO many DIFFERENT models ~ EVERY season and they have GOT to prep for them too!  That is a lot of logistics and work.

So a "X3000 MODEL" MAY HAVE two or three "different" WiFi Cards in it? Or perhaps it's Audio, a BIOS UPDATE, a DVD drive or whatever? And sometimes a VENDOR may not be able to meet 'quota' ~ then what? Also another VENDOR may find themselves in a similar jam? CHIPS suddenly dried up... they can't deliver "Model A NIC Cards", but they CAN supply "Model C", but of course they won't have the same Drivers!  Then a CLIENT may need 1,500 "Special Systems" with CUSTOM requirements. Manufacturing builds them to that spec and out they go...

IMAGINE each time Microsoft launches a new Operating System!  Just THINK of the many vendors who learn 1/2 or 1/3 of their products WON'T be compatible with "vista" or WIN 16 !  Imagine the FIRE DRILLS as all of these companies scramble to rehire or find qualified programmers to write NEW software and DRIVERS for "OLD" stuff ~ and perhaps MORE and different Drivers for items still on the drawing boards?  MS farts and we smell it.  

Perhaps we should think of it as, 'The BILL GATES MAKE WORK PROGRAM' ?

So whatever the reason, HARDWARE and DRIVERS CHANGE...(but the "X3000" BOX looks the same)!  And if a computer to play chess was built, why is a accurate driver data base so tough?  I dunno, I'm just saying?  There was a time when we had to almost BEG a company for a driver disk or it cost big bux to replace one.  Guess they tired of the thousands of calls every month ~ so they put MUCH of that stuff ONLINE in 'archives' ~ Yeaaaa!

I recently got a Program called "SNAPPY DRIVERS" and that puppy is over 16GB(!) of JUST DRIVERS (and a tiny low-frills engine to run it all)! THEN it was A "UPDATE" AT 4GB MORE! Trust me, that is a LOT of Drivers! Yes, it UPDATED two 'older drivers' on my System, but SNAPPY did NOT find the 2 Intel drivers I really needed. Snappy did tell me they needed replacement though.

I DO count my blessings and LOVE my DELLS!
