google chrome and dell data protection
Google chrome wants me to remove dell data protection security tools authentication. I am not sure what to do. Does remove mean the same as uninstall? Is this a problem with google chrome or the dell data protection? Thanks for any assistance. I tried to check on dell.com to see if there was an update but could not find any information on the current version or a possible update. The version on my system is 1.3.0.427. Running W10 prof version 1803 latest build as of today. Also latest chrome version as of today. This is what I get when I follow the directions to go to Google settings. There is also a link (not shown since it did not show up in cut and paste) to remove it. There is no link to update. "This application could prevent Chrome from working properly. Learn how to update applications Application Dell Data Protection | Security Tools Authentication" Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.

I run latest Google Chrome on Windows-10 Pro 64bit (currently, at least one is v1803 and another is v1709).
I've never seen a Google Chrome say that now or ever. I'm thinking it has something to do with "Dell Data Protection" because I never use that.
a. What exact model is this?
b. How did it get to Windows-10? Was it an overlay/upgrade install or did you clean-install it fresh?

1. Correct. Just trying to help you, possibly with a work-around.
2. You still never said which model.
3. If truly a "clean install" from Microsoft media there should not be any Dell software installed.
4. I do not think so ... I've never seen that. Pretty sure it also needs a paid cloud account to function completely.
5. Sure. But for now, my solution would be to just not install it. Or, uninstall it properly.
6. I think you must have an active extended warranty that includes software support for that.
