supportassist does not reflect Latest technical updates + driver downloads

OptiPlex 5040

OptiPlex 5040

I get an email from Dell that says "Latest technical updates + driver downloads" which references an "Urgent" BIOS update that I need to install (Urgent; 4.9.0, A01; 09 May 2023) on my OptiPlex 5040.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=30f6m&dcp=email

Yet when I run supportassist, it says that I don't need an update, yet I have not updated my BIOS in some time.  I am running 64-bit Windows 10, which is one of the supported operating systems, on my OptiPlex 5040 (a listed compatible system).

I have seen this in the past, where supportassist doesn't know about suggested/urgent updates.

I'm not sure whether to believe the email or supportassist.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Often times, there is mismatch between Dell utility tools.  Depending on which apps you used and your notification preference.  Hence the reason many users dumped them and generally considered those apps as bloatware.

Beside some BIOS firmware, all your system drivers updates and store apps are handled by Windows already.  It's your turn to decide if they (Dell apps) are needed.
