Optiplex 745 SFF, Boot Drive vs Storage Drive, bootup

So, I have a dell optiplex 745 SFF, anyway I took out its optical drive because i wanted to have another hard drive inside of it, a western digital 3 terabyte hard drive, for storage space. When I swapped out the optical drive for the hard drive however, the pc tries to boot to the 3tb hard drive instead of my original hard drive, and I can't figure out how to change the boot configuration. (I know I can just change the cables around, but for me that isnt an option right now due to the way ive set up its internals/cable management and such) I want it to boot to my original hard drive while still recognizing the second hard drive and being able to use it for storage. Thanks!

Have you tried changing the boot order in the bios? The cd-dvd drive is high in the boot order to boot the computer when the hard drive won't boot. You need to change it to after the boot drive. It will still be recognized. What is the operating system on this 11 yr old model?

You do not have 64 bit UEFI bios so you won't be booting from a 3TB drive.

im not trying to boot off of it. im trying to use it as storage. its just that when i plug it in, the computer tries to boot off of it. I want to use the OTHER (original) hard drive to be boot off from. But the bios doesnt look like it has a boot order option. thats what im saying.

the problem is, when i changed the boot order in the bios, it knows it has two SATA hard drives, though it only gives me 1 option for a hard drive. and if i set the cd drive as the first startup priority, it won't work as it doesn't "see" a cd drive.
