2321ds KVM port question

I'm attempting to manage my existing 2321ds over the network and am getting the following error

Login Failure

Reason: Connection failed, webserver did not respond or connection refused.

After getting a response on my ping, I attempted to connect through the browser to no response. I can use OSCAR to look at the switch and attached devices, but cannot connect through the Dell Remote Console Switch Software or trying to Configure Remote Console Switch.

My next move was to hyperterminal into the device, but can't seem to connect through the Setup port. The documentation says to use the "Configuration Port" , but doesn't show you which one to use or even tell you... like a big guessing game. I'd appreciate anyone's help on managing this device again to attempt at resolving my remote management capabilities with the unit.

Thank you.

Hi,

The serial port on the back is what is used for terminal connections. Have you tried unplugging and plugging the kvm back in to see if rebooting will reset the webserver?

The model is a 2321ds. There is no serial port on this model.

I'm not trying to be a pain, but I'm looking for a solid answer. If you haven't seen the back of the unit... it has LAN1 and LAN2 (LAN1 could be construed as the "first port") After that there is a set of 4 ports one of which is blank, another reads Setup, and 2 more that are labeled PDU for PDU management. The rest of the ports are 32 ports for KVM purposes.

There are a ton of things which need to get accomplished this week and I'd like an answer from Dell or the community that is a bit more than a guessing game, which I can in all reality accomplish by myself.

Is there anyone who can answer how to connect to the 2321ds for initial setup/configuration?

The documentation/manual reads as follows

NOTE: The default username is “Admin.” There is no default password.
1 Connect a terminal or PC running the terminal emulation software to
the configuration port on the back panel of the Remote Console Switch
using the supplied serial cable. The terminal should be set to 9600 baud,
8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control.

2 Plug the supplied power cord into the back of the Remote Console
Switch unit and then into an appropriate power source.

3 When the power is switched on, the Power indicator on the rear of the
unit will blink for 30 seconds while performing a self-test. Press the
key to access the main menu.

Try the first port. The error sounds like the webserver service failed.

To pick up on this thread, can Dell provide:

1) The pinout for the serial cable? Cable was lost in our environment

2) Factory Reset procedure, if any?

Our unit's password was changed and the engineer that had it is not available. We are willing to reset to factory if needed. Also, if the password was changed, I assume that using the serial port will not help.

Is Dell monitoring this page? I would like to find out if the pinout for the cable is available? eg:

from PC 9 pin Serial to 2321ds Setup port

Is there a factory reset if the console cable cannot be connected and the telnet console cannot connect?
