400sc ram problems
I recently ordered a stick of 512mb pc3200 ecc ram. However, if I try to install it in my system it won't boot, no matter what position (i.e. 1st slot 1st bank, 2nd slot 1st bank, 1st slot 2nd bank) I install it in. I have no experience with this, but could this be because my fsb speed is limited to 400mhz by my celeron processor.
ps- the system specs are intel celeron 2.0ghz w/ a 400mhz fsb, intel 875 mobo, 128mb of 400mz ecc ddr ram, 48x cd-rom, 30 gig west. dig. hd(master) and 160 gig maxtor hd(slave) w/ xp home/ red hat 9.0 dual boot os.
the ram I ordered is right here
http://www.buffalotech.com/memory/prod-ddrdimm.html
it's the 184pin PC3200 Registered x72 ECC (Low Profile), more specifically the 512mb DD4333L-R512/SE
Thanks for any help!
edit- I found the unoffical faq, I guess I'll just buy any memory from there, any input is still appreciated!

You're trying to use registered ram in as system that calls for ECC unbuffered, or non-ECC unbuffered. Registered means it has a buffer. That just doesn't work in the 400SC.
These are tested and certified to work in the 400SC:
ECC unbuffered: DD4333-E512/SE or DD4333-E512/MC
Non ECC unbuffered: DD4333-512/SE or DD4333-512/MC
(SE versions use Samsung DRAM, while MC uses Micron.)
http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/bz/bz_mem.htm lists memory that's tested and certified on the Intel 875pbz board, of which the 400SC is a variant (or so I am told).
