Adding PCI-e USB 3.0 card question...
Hi Guys,
Whats going on?! Quick question... I would like to add a USB 3.0 PCI-e card, but I am not sure which one to pick, especially what power connector it should have?! Maybe something like this:

or

This one looks good as well?!

What OS are you using?
I am having real difficulty finding a card that works in my T-320, 2 TB drives work fine, but 4TB drives don't show up.

Can you tell me if you used the GPU adapter to power the card or if you used the CD power cable. Either way, can you tell me the part # for the power adapter cable that you used?

First of all, thank you for following this thread all the way through and posting your end result! I'm curious, as it's been over a year now, is the card still working in your T620? Any issues to be aware of?

Hi,
Thanks for the kind words... No problems at all. The card works fine, the T620 works fine. Everything is the way it should be! The only thing that "bothers" me a little bit is, that the card doesn't allow you to make the computer "sleep". At least that is my understanding. Other than that, everything is working great!
thanks,
G

I'm curious. It's working, but is it working at 3.0 speeds? I'd assume the motherboard would ultimately dictate whether or not that speed could be reached (I know very little about hardware, so that's just a guess). I'd also assume that if it works but the system isn't capable of utilizing the 3.0 speeds, it might just treat it like a 2.0?
Would love to hear back from you on this. I'm currently relying on Windows Server Backup and hoping a 3.0 expansion for my 3.0 drives would help my nightly backups finish quicker.

Hi HEVAISSA,
Congratulations on getting your USB 3.0 card working. I have a question about your GPU GTX 1070 card, What do you have to do to get it working? I need to add GPU for machine learning, just wondering if my PowerEdge R905 will take a GeForce GTX 1080 or two.
Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks...
You should search other threads of mine on here, and will find the answer to your question. It has been too long now, and I totally forgot what all was necessary to make the card work. However, from what I remember, not much you have to actually do, other than to get a GPU installation kit. They are really hard to come by though...

dell r720 + usb3.0 pcie bridge card
suggest NEC D720201 & D720202 solution,it could support power supply by pcie only. not need independent power supply.
