Data Center Capacity planner-tool
Couple of questions about DDCP. What's the Flow Rate (CFM) at the report. (For PE2950 this is 93,40.) In the report theres a column Thermal (watts) displayed for individual devices and in the summary the sum of this columns values are as BTU/h. What's BTU/h? Also how to find out the heating capacity of a server or is BTU a thermal unit? If so what is the actual Total power consumption of the rack? Anyway, this is a useful tool. I just need to understand the results... Thanks

The flowrate is the amount of air that's blown out of the fans in a certain period of time.

I beileve the author meant 20,000-30,000 BTU. 2 tons of A/C is 24,000 BTU and 3 tons would be 36,000 BTU. That is likely a bit low. A single Dell rack about 1/2 full of say 2950 III servers rates at consuming over a ton of A/C.
Since the electricity consumed by the equipment directly correlates to heat output, you will typically need about 1 ton of A/C for every 3500-4000 watts of electricity you consume.
